Model Lines & printing

I had to draw in some Model Lines for either layout or have something to snap to when I was dimensioning.

Is there a way to not have these print or do I just have to hide or delete them?

Hey,

I believe you'll need to turn them off in your view template and then it will associate that with all views associated to that view template.

I can't turn them off through the VV options because my linked dimensions go away. I had to add some lines so I could get the dimensions to snap where I needed them.

If you want to still show dimensions, try shortening the lines down to 1mm long so they aren't visible in the print?

hello,

if you are not in 3D why did you use Model Line instead of Detail line?

the detail line is easier to control and can also be put on <Hidden>

this way you will still have the dimensions but not the lines (visible)

Mostly because I am very new to Revit and don't know the best way to input "layout" lines. I just want to draw lines for layout purposes but don't want them to print and I don't want to have to erase them either. I looked at Detail Lines and even changed them to 'hidden' but they still showed on when printing.

I started using Reference planes for my layout lines but I don't think that is the best method either but at least there is an option when printing to not have them print.

the reference plane is also a good method

just keep in mind that is a plane and not al line. so it will show also in another floors, probably causing confusion.

for a 2 storey I would pick reference plane. but for more then 2 stories I would go with the <Hidden> detail line.
