12D model import into Revit using IFC

Hi, not sure I am in the right place to post this issue.

I am trying to import a 12D model into Revit using IFC format, but after importing the 12D model into Revit, it becomes a whole entity and we cannot select individual element to get data information from the model.

The category of the entity is site. The 12D model includes just tins and strings. We assume that we should map the tins and strings with Revit family category, but we don't know which category to map with.

Does anyone have any ideas about this issue? Thanks a lot.

Linking IFC does act as a whole entity, you need to use the TAB Key to cycle select elements within the IFC model.

You could try opening the IFC and investigating it further as this allows more flexibility but as with ALL IfC models the level of information available is based on the Conversion Method when creating the IFC as to when level of information is presented and how.

I would suggest after looking into the further that the limitation lies with the lFC export from the legacy software.

I did find a link to their site with a process which maybe if help on creating IFC files.

We think that it may be the issue in the exporting side, we are still working on it.

No problem, looking at the information it appears Tin can only be exported using IFC4x1 so it could be the limitation here.
