topic Move structural elements in Revit Structure Forum

what is the best way of moving structural model elements to a different floor level? I've a bit of a complex structural steel canopy which i have modelled at the wrong height, I'm trying to move it to the right height but i'm getting all sorts of errors, I've tried to 'disallow join' on some of the members and then move them but i'm still getting a lot errors and all the structural members end up being out place and disjointed after I've moved them. My way of moving them is by selecting the whole structural steel canopy and then moving it as it will take too long if i am to move each member one by one. (it will basically be like having to remodel the whole thing again)

any tips on the best workflow that i could use would be much appreciated.

select all and create a group (this should disallow some joins/constraints). Then move it all as one. If creating a group and moving it will create too much mess, you could select the group, export it to an external Revit link, move it and then bind it.

You could also try selecting all the elements you want, go to modify, select cut to clip board, select paste, aligned to selected level, select the level you want it at, hit ok. That might work, if you have a level set for where you want the framing to be at. If not, create a level for the canopy to be pasted to.

https://help.autodesk.com/view/RVT/2019/ENU/?guid=GUID-80D1540D-4D42-4675-8E71-38498BB231DE
