In case anyone else comes across this error, we were not able to rid ourselves of this corrupt wall, but we continued working with this version of our model by assigning the corrupted element to a construction phase by iteself and hid that phase. If anyone has a similar issue that is the best way I know of to fix the problem without reverting back to an old published model.

When editing an element, "a serious error" occurs

I get an error message: "A serious error has occurred. It is strongly recommended that you use Save As to save your work in a new file before continuing." whenever I try to edit a wall.

This issue seems specific to the element, as I can change the family of the element and it remains uneditable. However when I try to change the properties of the element by changing the properties of the family, I also receive the message. I need to be able to change the top extent of this wall.

I know it's a 2 years old thread, but I after several different attempts to fix it I found a solution that worked for me so it might help to someone else as well: I selected the problematic family, cut it to clipboard and then pasted it "aligned to same place". After that the family didn't report errors.
