topic Is there a final answer as to if Analytical elements can be exported to IFC? in Revit Structure Forum

Why we need it:

Depending on material type, our engineers use 4 different structural analysis programs, all of which conveniently allow IFC imports. The REVIT 2020 docs state that REVIT has fully certified IFC import and export capability and I have found no contradictory information to that. However, nor have we been success in exporting the analytical model or finding an example online of this workflow.

In preparation for exporting the analytical IFC model we have done the following:

Upgraded REVIT 2020 to be fully current as of today's date.

Downloaded and installed the latest IFC2020 Add on from Autodesk.

Created a project view (one in plan and one in 3D each for testing) with only the Analytical elements visible.

Have an IFC config file where the analytical elements are exported as either ifcSlab, ifcFloor, ifcWall etc. or also "ifcBuildingElementProxy".

Searched and searched and searched for a solution.

Tried different configurations of the export options for weeks.

Required Outcome:

We'd like the analytical planes, lines, and nodes to be visible in Solibri Anywhere as a start. If anyone has any links to this workflow or a solution, please post it here. If someone knows for a fact this is not possible in REVIT, that would be useful too so that we can move past this hurdle and investigate other options.

I've unforgivingly forgot to include a description of the behaviour we're seeing: it's rather simple. (The original post is not allowing me to edit or update it.)

Failure mode:

When the analytical views described above are "Saved as IFC" from the REVIT export menu and viewed in Solibri Anywhere, it gives an empty model of 8-9 Kb file size.

Here are some other historic examples of the problem which suggest REVIT might not have complete IFC support as claimed in the docs. However, other links suggest it is indeed possible to export the analytical model to IFC. Is there a solution?

Revit analytical to ifc

Ifc exporting a structural analysis boundary condition

Geometry Gym RevitIFC Plug-In

"By checking Structural Analysis the Revit defined analytical model will be written to the IFC file. This can be used to transfer models easily to structural analysis applications."
