Titleblock Precast assembly _ Add Area

Hi Team,

at the moment, I could figureout how to add automated the parameters volume, weight and thickness,

however, i would like to add the area of my element as well

i tried without success.

I hope someone can help me

As @ToanDN states it would be simplest to create a Part Schedule and place it in the Title Block/Sheet you can also use the filter by Sheet option so it only include items on the Sheet directly

Out of interest did you create Shared Parameters for the Values you got to work?

The reason I ask is for common Parameter names sometimes there are conflicts with other Categories sharing the same name but would expect it for the other too?

Thanks for your reply. The parameters already exist in project parameters.

If I create a schedule, can I set up the configuration in the family to get this automatically? I do not do it manually every time I make a drawing.

@alejandroCH79K Thanks for that I see them now after running the Precast Module.

These parameters are created automatically and are related to a Shared Parameter file which I cannot find on my PC even using the help - if this file was located you could create a new one for Area (AreaSheet)

It may be worth looking into this Link in more detail as this could automate a lot of the work for sheets etc.

The other alternative would be to create your own Standard Schedule based on the Part and save this into your Template or Company Template so it is there for you always, you can even export a Schedule and import it into project again preventing recreating every time!

File > Save As > Library > View

Insert Tab > Insert Views from File

I want to test first the possibility of automating the Parameter as per the theVolumeSheet,ThicknessSheet, etc.

I could create the parameter AreaSheet in Project Parameters, but I cannot export this one to Shared Parameters

the option is locked

any suggestion

it’s a strange one on me why the Shared Parameter file is not present and this Parameter is not automatically generated!

Probably needs a little more clarity from Autodesk and the development team on the reasoning here!

Have you tried to do it the long Way by Creating a Shared Parameter and assigning a Project Parameter to it?

Yes, actually, the parameter AreaSheet doesn't exist in the Project Parameter. I created a new one following the criteria of the others, like VolumeSheet, ThicknessSheet, etc., but it's not working; it just appears as an empty parameter.

I contacted Autodesk support, and it's funny because I have discussed this issue with them, and pretty much they told me it's not possible. For example, for the ThicknessSheet, I wanted that parameter automated, but they told me I had to do it manually. I checked the Autodesk Revit documentation.

I discussed the documentation with them, and they still gave me the same answer and showed the same results; they told me it was not possible and that I could automate ThicknessSheet on my own.

However, you are the first one who is trying to help me. I am convinced that if the parameter is already in the element's data, there should be a way to add it to the title block.

I would tend to agree as if its reported in the Properties Palette the information is in there somewhere!

I did install 2022 and check if the Shared_Parameters were in the folder as for 2025 the location changed from previous version but still no joy. The location reference for the Precast Parameters in the Help is not correct!

I feel this is hardcoded and pushed into Revit when running the Precast configuration so unless this is done top end it may not be possible as they do not actually reference the Area Parameter?

I was going to try and look at Dynamo to see if I could pull it out that way but not had time at this stage!
