Oh, you're new to Revit.

I miss those days even though I'm not a superuser yet. 🙂

I don't believe in only "learn by testing", all learning experiences are different.

I love a really honest old book that takes time and explains all the steps and in depth gives me insights into why you do what you do not just how to do it.

I would recommend the "Mastering Autodesk Revit" series which I think is superb. You can take it very slow through the book if you want and they explain the absolute basics very well. I return to these books as reference books.

Don't know if these books are avaible in your part of the world but here in Sweden it exists as both e-book and "regular" book.

Good luck with Revit, be patience and you will learn a wonderful program that just "grows and grows" the more you learn. Good luck!

https://www.bookdepository.com/Mastering-Autodesk-Revit-2020-Robert-Yori/9781119570127?redirected=true&utm_medium=Google&utm_campaign=Base3&utm_source=SE&utm_content=Mastering-Autodesk-Revit-2020&selectCurrency=SEK&w=AF7YAU9SY2KPZLA8VCP1&gclid=CjwKCAjw8df2BRA3EiwAvfZWaJtfLKMm90AmlSb8xBst4Lb6Utbpy57zVqOA8RcdlMPCw3ASJhzNYBoCd38QAvD_BwE

Good day,

I am starting to explore using Revit in our design office, using it in conjunction with Advance Steel, AutoCAD and some Inventor input. I have subscribed to an online training course which will happen in about 2 weeks. However, I would also like to get my hands on a good reference and tutorial book which I can use beyond the training.

Seen on Amazon the book that I think covers what I am looking for is "Autodesk Revit 2020: Fundamentals for Structure (Metric Units)" by Ascent who punts that they are an Autodesk Authorised Publisher.

So my questions are:

1. Anyone that have used this book starting from scratch with Revit?

2. Any other good books that I can look at which will cover tutoring me from zero to beginner level with Revit and which can be used as a reference once I use the software?

Regards

Kobus

There is no good book beyond the training. There is only practice. The more you practice, the faster you'll learn Revit. You learn easier by reverse engineering. Try to find a complete project, with views, sheets, etc and try to create similar project.

Thank you, I will try this book. I am booking myself onto a training course that takes three days of continuous classes, but I agree with you on using a book as well. I used that approach on AutoCAD and Inventor and it works for me.

Regards

Kobus
