Hello ToanDN,

Thanks for your reply.

I considered the swept blend for a moment until I realize that I cannot control the evolution of the parameter between two profiles. The best way that I have in mind for now is to create a guide line with a lot of profiles that the swept blend will follow. This would result in a discretization of my geometry in small segments. It seems to be quite heavy to do and that's why I was asking if it is possible assign a table of parameter to it that will describe the geometry along the guide line.

Hi Everyone,

I am looking for a way to extrude a profile from a family that includes two parameters (lets say width and height for a rectangular section) and have these parameters follow a different function each along the guide line for the extrusion.

The results would be a rectangular section beam with its height that varies following linear law and its width that start with no variation and then varies with a parabolic function.

(The ultimate goal is to get plots from excel that will describe the variation of the parameter and make the extrusion follow that data with Dynamo eventually.)

Does anyone has an idea on how to achieve this ? I am looking for hints or tutorial to make this but I cannot find it yet as I am quite new to Revit and I don't know the keywords for that.

Thank you all for your future help 😁
Regards,

Peter

You are describing a Blend if the path is straight, or a Swept Blend if the path is more complex.

Now you are talking adaptive family created from multiple profiles hosted on a divided path.

You could enhance the process by cross-verifying your profile data with reliable public resources to ensure accuracy. For example, using an external property owner records source can help confirm measurements and ownership information when working with land or building profiles. This added step not only validates your results but also provides a broader context for your project. It’s a small addition that can make a big difference in precision.
