Adding fireproofing to structural members

I've got a client who would like to see something to represent fireproofing around some structural members. Actual material thickness. I guess that involves creating a new family based on the existing structural families? How would I do that?

There are numerous YouTube videos on Revit family building, I would recommend watching two or three videos on the subject and try building something? I don't think there are any specific videos on adding fire proofing to framing members, but the concepts covered in the videos should get you started.

There are some Dynamo scripts that I have seen that add fire proofing to framing members, but I have never been successful in getting those to work.

When you have something feel free to add to this topic for people to help.

You could

model it as part of the structural family
- Assign to it the proper material with fireproofing properties
- Assign it to a subcategory to control its visibility
model it in a separate family (using a generic model template or a nonstructural column/beam) and place it either manually of using Dynamo

What if I don't control the structural model? Ideally I would like add it in Architectural model but hosted by structural member.
