Our firm usually put double nuts in our steel connections. Is it possible to have a bolt with double nuts in revit?

what do you mean? show some screenshot here? otherwise you can edit the family and make it double nuts?

2D or 3D family? Either way, yes, you just have to edit the family. Easier said than done most of the time.

hI @jesvicnaag08

If you are using connections from the steel tab they are not based on families, everything from the steel tab comes from Advance Steel and is database driven not family based.

To change the number of nuts / wahsers you need to select the "Assembly" in the joint dialogue, see screenshot below for example W+WN mean washer on the head of the bolt and a washer and nut on the other side

These databases are stored in the following location - C:\ProgramData\Autodesk\Revit Steel Connections 2022

You will need Advance Steel installed and then modify the bolts in Advance Steel to add the nuts etc

Once you have your new nuts with extra nuts you need to get them into Revit, all the Revit bolts and Anchors are taken from the Advance Steel databases which have been copied into the Revit folder Structure, so you need to copy the Advance Steel Database with the new bolts and paste it into the Revit folder structure. Please follow the steps below (Again please note i am working on UK builds so the fodler paths will be different)

1. Shut down Revit and Advance Steel

2. Go to the following folder - C:\ProgramData\Autodesk\Revit Steel Connections 2022\en-UK

3. Rename the AstorBase.mdf to AstorBaseOriginal.mdf (Always best to have a backup)

4. Delete the file AstorBase_Log.ldf

5. Go to the following folder C:\ProgramData\Autodesk\Advance Steel 2022\GBR\Steel\Data

6. Copy the file AstorBase.mdf and paste it into C:\ProgramData\Autodesk\Revit Steel Connections 2019\en-UK

7. When you reboot your Revit you will now have the nuts that you created in Advance Steel available inside your Revit Base Plate connection
