Goodafternoon,

I'm not keen at all with the IFC environment et my apologies if it's not really precise what I'll say.

Can revit potentially import the exact IFC category that I want and throw away the others in the same file?

ex: I want all the plates in the model and nothing else, what should appear the IFC import options table in order to do that?

am I only a little dreamer or can it happen?

thank you!

(File->Export->ifc, then "Modify setup" and tabs)

if by "plates" you mean steel/metal embed plates, you need to also make sure to check "Include Steel Elements" (first tab on "Modify Setup") on export settings, as well as putting "ifcBuildingElementProxy" next to Structural Connections in "ifc Options" (File->Export->Options->ifc Options)

Thank you very much for the answer but I'd need to import not to export.

To be more precise I'd like to know if Revit does a filter while importing data from an IFC. If it's the case how does it work?Is it the same setup for export/import?

thank you!

Oh, my apologies. I had not read properly.

I'm not sure if there's a filter while importing. what I've been doing is "attaching" and then removing what I do not need in the ifc file by "ungrouping" the attached ifc file. A filter would be good for sure.
