topic Need two components to work separately using shape handles or together in Revit MEP Forum

Hello!

I am trying to make a family where I have two different Rods. I need both of them to work individually using shape handles, but I also need them to be able to switch to be the same length when a yes/no instance is checked (i.e. Left Rod Length, Right Rod Length, and Rod Length(Both when yes/no is checked). I can get them to do that if I plug the value into the properties, but as a request I need them to be able to freely move hence the shape handles.

Any help is much appreciated!

You can connect the geometry of the rod to a non-reference workplane then calculate the location of that workplane with a formula. The formula can use one value if a Yes/No is checked and another if it is not. You cannot, however, calculate the position of a workplane and have it attached to a grip. If you have the "Equal Length" box checked, you can move the two rods to be equal length, but you cannot force the grips to move to the rod ends. You can make one grip control the equal length and the other will be where it will be.
