Could anyone explain how to create a duct family that could be loaded into separate projects? Can it be created like duct fitting families?

I understand, but is it possible to create a duct family as a product that one chooses to insert/load into project from database of certain add-in like MagiCloud?

You probably have to ask someone from that add-in vendor. Revit ducts are just system families and you can edit them within what Revit lets you do. Maybe explain what the actual objective is? Do you want ducts to actually look like the spiral ducts with the spiral seams? I don't know that add-in or what purpose it has....

I think the Flakt perforated ducting would be classified as an Air Terminal rather than duct. It is basically a linear diffuser.

The method of creating different duct types in Revit is as I described earlier. Create them in a project or template file and then you can re-use them in different projects. You can also then "load" them by using Transfer Project Standards or copy & paste.

So what type of family are the ones they already have in that data base? if it is something that acts as a diffuser, it would be an air terminal family.

I suspect that data base needs some sort of loadable family. That would be duct fitting, air terminal or duct duct accessory family. " ducts" themselves are not loadable, those are system families. system families only can be transferred from one project to another. those don't have an rfa-file you could save separately.

How is that family yo create to be different from a standard duct? i assume if you create something for designers, it is something that isn't already easily usable from oob Revit.

Other manufacturers of pipe and duct etc would usually supply a .rvt project file which contains their various pipe/duct types with fitting families loaded and the routing preferences etc set up.

Good examples are Geberit and Wavin for pipes (I don't have similar examples for ducts).

A user would then transfer the duct/pipe types into their own project or template using Transfer Project Standards or by copying from the manufacturer's .rvt file and pasting into the user's file.

Pasting in a single piece of pipe or duct also copies over the routing preferences and any fittings families contained in the routing preferences.

You can't create an .rfa file for ducts and you can't load them in the same way as other families.
