Understanding that certain elements, particularly "architectural" or "structural" elements, are classed as "underlay" in MEP discipline views is a basic step in Revit.

It avoids selecting masses of irrelevant elements when you use crossing window selection method in MEP views.

I think the confusion is caused though by many "general" items such as lines, generic model elements etc being classified as "architectural".

Hope this helps

Hello, a post is a bit old but maybe can help someone, because I faced with the similar problem, that I placed by accident a Room separation. I could find the separation lines and delete it after changing the view style to Structural Foundation Plan view.

Yes, changing the view style helped in my case. Sometimes separation line is drawn on construction level and there can be insulation/finish layer drawn above which covers the line. I have changed to wireframe and it worked perfectly.

I tried using a different template which did allow me to see the space separation lines and delete them, but then I could not restore the visibility setting back to the way they were without hitting "undo" a bunch of times. I ended up adjusting my view range and setting visibility to wire frame. That did the trick and easy to restore the view range. Thanks everyone. Working on the roof is great fun!

There's a few issues in this post.

Basically though the issue is that separation lines (Room or Space) are underlay elements in MEP views so you have to have the underlay lock turned off:

In an MEP view though this will only allow you to select lines individually, not with window selection.

To allow window selection temporarily change the view discipline to Coordination.

You can also change the line weight of the lines and have line weights visible in the view so that the lines are easier to see.

Regarding the comment in one of the posts "I tried using a different template which did allow me to see the space separation lines and delete them, but then I could not restore the visibility setting back to the way they were", use the temporary view option:

Then you just restore the previous properties:

This is the answer if you can't select room separator lines.

This should be very clear and apparent, yet here this comment is burried in some thread long ago. How autodesk doesn't believe is pertinent information is beyond me.
