Hello,

Marking as solution is the point out to others the proper reply, you can do that from any account, it is not necessary to be done from the original user.

Linked Model Levels, Shared Coordinates, Elevations, PLEASE HELP!!

Hi guys,

I'm doing a project in which we have a model for each trade - all linked together (8 models total). I wasn't around when the project was set up initially so I don't know the workflow that was done but long story short:

I created a dynamo script which locates equipment based on their coordinates (among other things), noticed there was something wrong with the elevations I was receiving, linked a few of the models into a blank template (origin to origin) and the levels appeared like so:

From the limited information I received about this - the project was initially set up with a 14'0 elevation for project base point but then was moved to 19'6" - this would explain the 5'6" difference. But no matter what I try, I cannot get all models to be the exact same 😞

Has anybody encountered this issue before? I have tried EVERYTHING I can think of!

Thank you,

Dave

Hello Dave,

Before starting, make a backup of all files, if you mess something you can restart quickly.

First you must open the file that has the correct location set, usually the architecture file.

Then link each trade, unpin the file, and using the move tool adjust in the plan view the position, you must have some reference point to confirm the position!

Repeat the process on the elevation.

Then on the manage tab, project location tab, select publish coordinates. Select the linked file and select the file site. By doing this, you have set the coordinate systems to the new position of the file.

If you select the linked file in the properties the Shared Site parameter is filled now!

But you still need to update the file!

Open the Manage Links and select the linked file, click on Save Positions, now your file is in the proper place!

Remember when linking the files after this process to use the option By Shared Coordinates instead Origin to Origin.

Repeat the process for each file, I suggest to have one link at time, so it will not get messy!

Hi Fabio,

So sorry I haven't replied - I got locked out of my old account so I had to make this new one. But that worked!! The final step of the "save positions" was the last piece of the puzzle for me!

Thank you so much! Sorry I can't accept this as a solution as I'm not on the right account.
