How to set Air Terminal with 2 connection?

Hello,

i have the situation in the images below...I need to have 2 connection on a single air terminal. I setted on one the right information of classification and direction. The second connection only fitting connected at the first...

But when i want to have the pressure lost or i check the ducts systems i receive error...Wrong direction fluid...

I saw in your picture that you linked the connectors.

is that correct?

Hello @marco.defina,

As far as i know you can’t link a preset connector to a fitting connector. It will generate errors in Revit.

A fitting connector is only used in fitting families.

I do not understand why you would use this method.

Why don’t you add another supply Air connector to the other side.

You could divide the Air Flow over the two connectors if you like.

Thanks for the info!

I setted the two connectors with flow half and half...But i have the same issue...

Some equipment is wrong, Revit says that i need to have all the equipment with global, calculated and the two connectors must be connected...It's so!

I don't understand why doesn't work.

And with half flow my label indicate half flow on the drawing...So doesn't work fine...

Hi Marco

You can try this.

Create a new instance parameter to the family which could be named e.g. "Connector flow". Then set a formula to the parameter "= Flow/2" (or Flusso/2 in your case).

Then set the flow configuration of both connectors in the family as "Preset" and associate the parameter "Connector flow" to the "Flow" parameter of the connectors under the "Mechanical flow".

When you then set the flow (Flusso) parameter of the air terminal to some value, the flow is automatically divided evenly to both ducts. I don't know if this has some side effects, but in my opinion this seems to work correctly

Yes the side effect is what i write up...The label of air terminal give half of the flow

I tried this solution but error on system remain, have you seen the test file attached?

you can always use shared parameter to show your correct flow values in your labels but personally I don't use and I don't suggest people to use multiple connector element on an air terminal as it destroys your duct system and make it impossible (at least I couldn't find any way) to have Revit generate pressure loss report. instead, try to use 2 instances of air terminals in a spot and, I don't know, place them side by side so they look like one unit 🙂

And what model is it, and from what manufacturer? I ask because I have linear diffusers all over my projects and not yet seen my HVAC consultants showing this type of plenum.

I don't know what brand his picture was from but TROX does it for slot diffusers.

For some manufacturers you can also have multi connection plenumbox for square diffusers and even have them split the plenum box inside with steel sheets.

A simple solution is to get families from the manufacturers.

I've solved this by using a single connector on the air terminal and connecting that to a plenum with multiple connectors.

Thank you. there are several disadvantages to using shared parameter instead of native parameter. 90% of the air terminal families use the native parameter. managing 2 types of tags for the air terminal is counterproductive. In addition, reviewing all the other families of air terminal to use a shared parameter is not reasonable.

Thank you for your help. as I thought there is no real way to make it all efficient natively

That's the very reason I use my own shared parameters for everything I use. Airflow pressure drop, nominal sizes etc. for air terminals or other shared parameters for other types of components. When I need to download new family, I simply spend my 2 minutes to implement my shared parameters. So far, in my honest and humble opinion, it worths a lot.

In 2017 i request support from Autodesk:

After 4 years the problem is still there. To resolve I split in 2 part the Air Terminal.

For the tag of air terminal i use a second parameter for splitted flow.
