Enable to see my drafting views in the project browser in Revit 2017.1

Hi,

Something strange is happening in my model. When i create a drafting views it open's but doesn't appear anywhere in my project brower. Before you ask, iv'e look at te properties of the project browser (filter, regroupement, etc..) nothing there...normally in 2016 these drafting views appears in the ??? catégorie but not this time. Very strange...

Somebody already experience this issue ?

Do you have a view template for drafting views that is set to be applied to new views automatically? If so, that template is categorizing it for you.

Someone probably altered your project template so that newly created drafting views are automatically assigned to a discipline. Look at the Discipline & sub-discipline properties of your view.

I have no view templates associate with new drafting views (i think it's not possible for this kind of view) ...or else where would it be ?

I know you can do it for floor plan, and ceiling plan but not drafting views, maybe i'm wrong.

When i start a new project from scratch my drafting views appear in dark black in my project browser but not in my project and i don't know where i can find the solution to this issue.

I can see my drafting views properties when i create a new view. The discipline is Coordination by default, but even if i change it ...it still doesn't appear in my project browser.

You can assign a default view template for drafting views. Go to a drafting view and check the type properties.

Have you checked the sub discipline?

It should be very simple to see your view. Have you expanded all the categories in your project browser?

Hi, yes i did ..the Discipline is Coordination by default and the Sub-Discipline is empty. But in my project browser i set the option to "all" ....what should show me every view in my projet. But none of my drafting views appear even after expanding every mark. I really don't know what's going on. I never saw this. I'm the BIM manager at my office, i also am an Autodesk Certified Professionnal en Revit-MEP electrical. I totally understand what your trying to tell me but for some reason, it seems to be hidding my drafting view whatever the project browser is setup.

Like i said the only way i can figure that my views are being created is by a Schedule.

Can you upload an empty project that exhibits the behavior? I will take a look for you. I hate guessing games.

Hello @Anonymous,

If you set your Browser Organization of your Views to All, do you see your Drafting View then?

If Yes, Check if there are filter settings in your previous Browser Organization

Hi, yes i set my project browser to all but still can't see my drafting views. There is no filtrer as well.

Autodesk is on the case, but still nothing yet. Very strange.

Hi everyone,

I FINALLY FOUND THE SOLUTION !

A good way to resolve this problem is to simply open a new project that doesn't have the problem in the same Revit session that our corrupt files your presently working with.

You create a new drafting view in the new projet. In the project browser, you right clic and copie in the press-paper.

You switch to your corrupt files and paste your drafting view that you just copie with the "paste" option.

Voila ! The drafting views now appear in the "???" categories in your corrupt files, or project files, or custom templates.

And that's it ...it was that simple !

Well it was "corrupt" in the term that i wasn't able to see my drafting view in the project browser.

Not corrupt in term of error message.

I started a new project from scratch and create a drafting view and found out that it was working. So i right clic on it to copie and paste in my other projet that i was enable to see my created drafting view.

And when i paste my copied view...it ask my to overwrite some "generic" information bases on the sub-project "view" that is integrated in revit system.

And that corrects the problem..hope you understand.

Do you think it would be solved if you opened your project and checked the Audit checkbox?

Do you have a backup file where the problem still exists?

Would you be so kind and test that for us?

I am curious if the Audit will fix the problem.

Hi @robert.klempau,

I did make a test with the audit box check in, and unfortunately it did not correct the problem.

Like @RobDraw said the key is in the "generic" information" relied to the view sub-project properties.

Can't tell what exactly was overwrited but that corrected the problem instantly.
