Hi all, I need your help for the following reason:

in the current project I need to model the FS system and specifically for the reducing tee I have 2 different types:

A. Mechanical bolted branch

B. Grooved tee

the type A connects 100/150 mm pipes to 15/50 mm branch pipe

The type B connects 100/150 mm pipes to 65+ mm branch pipe

I have attached the routing preference.

The question is how can I set it in order to model the 2 fittings automatically, because in this case Revit uses only one type, the first it finds. I tried also to modify the 2 families, leaving on the lookup table the diameters I want but Revit create a Custom fitting.

Thanks

Manu

Interesting problem you've got there, I can think of a couple of things I would likely attempt. But most them are pretty rubbish.

If you could upload the two families I could definitely have a look at it for you.

Hi Luke,

thanks for your messagge. I have attached the 2 families. They are the "original" version as I received, I mean before starting my modification (that seems useless anyway).

Thanks again

Hello Manu,

What I see in your picture is that your Min Size and Max Sizes are not correct.

Revit wil look at the frist line of the junctions then the second line, etc.

So your first family A must be at the first row and the Min Size = 15 and the Max Size = 50

the second row is family B and the Min Size = 65 and the Max Size = max size of your pipe segment.

Note: Your families must have the correct data for the different sizes that can be placed or generated by Revit when using the Trim / Extend function.

Hi Robert,

Thanks for your reply. The point is that for the first row 15-50 mm is another fitting. My problem is for the 2nd and 3rd row. In particular the tee A will connect pipe 150 mm with a 15 - 32 - 40 - 50 mm and tee B will connect pipe 150 mm with 65 - 80 mm.

So the reason why you can find the second at the third row of the routing preference set in that way.

Hope I am more clear now and thanks again for your message 🙂

Hello @Anonymous,

Aha, Now I understand.

Sorry for that.

Unfortunately, that is not possible in one Pipe Type.

But there is a workaround / solution.

You need two Pipe Types.

1: with the "S_Victaulic-IPS-Mechanical-T Outlet Style 920-920N: Standard" as your junction family

2: with the "FS_Victaulic-FP-Tee No 1: Standard" as your junction family

So in the main Pipe and takeoff pipes larger then 50 you need the "Standard Takeoff large 65+" Pipe Type with the "FS_Victaulic-FP-Tee No 1: Standard" family.

For the small takeoff pipes you need the "Standard Takeoff large 65+" Pipe Type with the "S_Victaulic-IPS-Mechanical-T Outlet Style 920-920N: Standard" family.

Then it works.

I attached the Revit 2017 Example.

Please have a look at it and let me know it this works for you.

Hello @Anonymous,

Great that it solved your problem.

Just a small question.

To help others too, would you be so kind and accept post 8 of 10 as a solution so others can see that.

Thanks.
