Seem i have answer for this isssue.Problem not belong to revit,it belong to NWD file. You can fix by open NWD file with naviswork manager-enable section-mode (choose box)-scale( pull to make lager box around project)-and save.Reload that NWD file in revit coodination model.

The NWD shows up fine in plan view and 3D views, but is not visible in any section views. I do have it turned on in the view. Is there somewhere else in VG to control this visibility, outside of the limited options available on the Coordination Model tab?

Hi, mikegustus8493,

I'm Judy, a Revit specialist. I'll be happy to help you out with your question. Other than the visibility controls on the Coordination Models tab, on the model categories tab, the "show model categories in this view" needs to be checked in order for the model to be seen in section views. If you want, you can turn off some or all individual categories in sections, but the checkbox needs to be checked for the nwd to be visible in section views.

Does this answer your question, or do you have other questions?

If this does answer your question, please press the Accept as Solution button so others can find the answer more quickly!

Thank you and I'll be looking forward to your reply.

Best,

I'm having a very similar problem - my coordination model is not showing up in any 2D views, but it does show up in my 3D view. I'm working on a BIM 360 project and the other people in the project can see the views no problem but I cannot.

The previously listed solution does not help ...

Any thoughts?

Check the discipline of the view in the Properties.

Try setting it to Coordination.

We've had cases where it's set to Structural, or Mechanical, and the Coordination model does not show up. Setting the view Discipline to Coordination makes it show.

I had a similar problem and none of the above solved. I managed to figure it out and the problem was model phasing. The coordination models visibility is affected in certain views depending on its phase

There seems to be a problem/limitation with the way view clipping works with the coordination models linked into Revit.

In my case, I tried all of the previous suggestions: Phase, Discipline, and VG tab check box as well as minimizing the number of linked coordination models (in case there was a resource limit), different view scales, Wireframe/Shaded display, etc. Nothing worked until I set my Far Clip Offset way deeper than I want and various items or all items appear depending upon the depth.

I'm trying to show Shear Wall penetrations, so I'm using an Elevation (Sections work the same way) that starts at one face of the wall and ends (via Clipping) 12" away. I really don't want to see anything outside of this range, so it isn't very helpful that I have to set the Far Clip Offset to 10' before I see a number of the elements that are actually there (in my case a group of conduits penetrate the shear wall and then go off on a diagonal). Since there's no cut line, everything just blends into a colored blob since the conduits run off at the diagonal.

What I think is going on is that the elements don't appear in a 2D Revit view at all unless there is at least one planar surface inside the range of the view. In my case the conduits only appear once the end of the conduit is within the range of the clipped view, which is why only two conduits appear when the Far Clip Offset is set to 2'-0", but all 10 show up once I've increased the Far clip Offset to 10'-0".

Hopefully, this limitation can be fixed since it does not affect a tightly section-boxed 3D View.

Many of our coordination models (mostly large machines and equipment) were given to us as 3D AutoCAD files which we put into Navisworks then brought the nwd file into Revit. Lots of problems with visibility, colors, etc. We've abandoned the Navisworks coordination model in favor of creating a Revit family using a Generic Model template and importing the AutoCAD model into the family, then loading that family into Revit. This works great for section cuts, view ranges, color/halftone control, etc.

Of course doing that loses the whole flexibility of Navisworks, and does not work well with large CAD models.

I wouldn't do this if the coordination model was a whole hospital or something. But this method works great for large machinery and equipment we get from our subcontractors.

Hi, n.dull,

I see you're having issues seeing your linked coordination model in section views in Revit. Since none of the ideas in this discussion were helpful, I'd encourage you to log a support case with Technical Support so we can do some troubleshooting for you.

Yeah, I thought that would probably be the case, but I figured I'd throw it out there.

This is exactly what I'm trying to do (shear wall penetrations). Even in the latest build of Revit 2019, it does not appear that Autodesk has corrected this issue. The only way I've been able to get imported 3D DWGs to show up in sections with correct view ranges and planes is by importing the 3D DWG to a new family and inserting that family into my Revit project. I was hoping the Coordination Model would be a good tool to bring this information in that would otherwise be cumbersome within Revit, but haven't had any luck.

Did you end up find a fix or workaround for this issue? I know this post is nearly a year old, but it's still a problem.

Just create an in-place model, generic category, and link the 3D DWG in it. Then it will show properly in sections.
