Hi,

I want to be able to tag a wire such that it will show the size of the wires/conductors. Currently, I have this tag:

But I want it in this format:

Next, I'd like my circuit tag to also show the breaker size/poles. Currently, I have this tag:

And would like to format it like this:

Thanks in advance,

-P

open the tag family that you want to modify.

select a label to modify

confirm how you wish to have the label display organize the label parameters and provide a separator either Prefix or Suffix.

be sure to stretch the text box so it fills one line.

see image below.

next open the circuit tag and add the shared parameter you want to include breaker size / pole etc.

Have you had any luck in getting the tags you created to display the way you want? I am trying to do the same thing in Revit 2017. I can't quite get what you even started with. Would you be willing to share the annotation families you have created? I haven't found any on-line yet. Just questions similar to what you were asking.

I haven't as of yet, but here's what I use. I've been slammed for a while and haven't had time to revisit it yet...

I'll take a look at your family. I'll work with it to see if I can get it to display what we both are looking for.

Patsit,

I've tried several different things. Failed on all. Plus, Revit determines the wire size based on the OCPD instead of the MCA or WSA. And it also appears that the formula is flawed in the voltage drop calc as well. Again, can't access the formula to make corrections. It would appear that to get it to do what we would like it to do the base Revit formula needs edited (which I haven't been able to get to) and the wire size parameter needs to be editable (which I haven't been able to figure out how to do, if it can be modified to be editable). And it would appear that there is no parameter created for sizing the conduits either. This is needed to be able to include it with the wire size parameter in your wire size family.

I haven't advanced enough in Revit to be creating parameter formulas nor do I have the time presently. Maybe down the road I'll have some time to dig into this issue more. If I come up with anything, I'll be sure to share with you.

Warren

Never, ever, ever, ever trust Revit's native wire, conduit, and voltage drop calculated values. They're all over the place. If you're on the design side, I recommend not even bothering showing the homeruns and just tagging the devices with the associated circuit number(s). If you're on the construction side, model your conduit runs and create shared parameters for the number and size of wires/circuits in each pipe.
