I am part of an mep firm and am working on a linked architecture file. When I brought the file in no room tags or anything are shown. When I go into V/G and check everything (in the model and revit links) nothing seem to be affected by the changes. I just started a couple week ago, anybody know what's going on?

Yup.

Annotation type objects don't always come through links. If you are willing to just reference the architect's tags, you can set the link to display by a particular "linked view" in the V/G overrides. The first row in the first tab of the link overrides is where you would do that.

Alternatively, you could tag the rooms in your model with a tag of your choosing.

Or, you could do what @ToanDN says below.

Follow the steps below to pick an applicable from the link model where they show the annotation like Room Tags.

But that may turn on things you don't need. In such case, just tag the Room directly in your views. Or create Spaces and tag them.

I need to know where the elevators are is why I need their room tags and can't make my own. I tried what @ToanDN showed and the floorplan was still unaffected. How can I reference the architects tags when I don't see them?

Thanks for responding!

Does the architect's model have tags? You need to reference the same view.

If you only need to find where a Room is then do a Tag All on your view. Or create a room schedule that includes links, find locate the room name, select the row and Highlight in model. It will take you to that room.

So, the real solution is to get the architect to put in the room tags and use the method first mentioned.

Did the architect even put rooms in?
