Tagging Pipes

Hello all,

I'm doing some tags in the drainage system and I need to put 4 different types of tag in each pipe. At the moment I'm using comments and mark tags, but I need more 2 options.

I would like to know if there is someone that could give one idea of how to do it, and if there is a better way to do it, instead of use comments and mark tags.

we use Labels for most of our tagging

some are just text as an instance parameter

typically these 2 ar eall that is needed

1.System type

2. Pipe Size

you ca nadd from the available list inside the edit Label window

the result is shown in the next image.

if you use the break box checked each item will use its own line in the tag

this was without using break checked

this is using Break checked

your results can vary to suit your requirements.

Thanks for your reply kadmonkee.

Actually the informations that I need to show is just to define each pipe showing their respective number and some text to explain what is happening in that level, but in each pipe I should put 4 different kind of information. That is why I used comments at the beginning.

Is it possible I make it with Labels as you doing?

if all the Pipe System is the same type the Label will pick that up using the System Abbreviation parameter in the Label

SVP is your Pipe System Type.

the sequencing you would keep as a variable to change as needed.

then the comments are also a variable to change as needed

so your label could look like this

SYSTEM ABBREVIATION

NUMBER

COMMENTS

use BREAK after the Number t oget a result like this

FA OFFSET AT HL

the attached family (Revit 2016) can be upgraded to test in your porject

change out the fields as you want to get the info in your views when tagging the Pipes.

note create a Pipe System using the Standard Pipe Type.

browse in the families section of your Project Browser.

find Piping Systems open the PLUS symbol

select any available Piping System Right Click and Duplicate it

Rename it SVP now Right Click and go into the Type Properties of that Piping System and select EDIT button for Graphics Overrides

assign a color , Line weight and a Pattern if you think it helps distinguish it from others systems

I don't know why, but the only thing that there's no information here is the System abbreviation, and I don't see how I can change it.

did you add or modify the label to your Piping System?

you need to create a PIPING SYSTEM and define what the Abbreviation is first then the tag will pick up the definition.

Piping system created, label modified, abbreviation defined. Now I just don't understand how I can put the parameter 'number' as you told me before, and make it editable.

create or Load a shared Parameter called NUMBER into your label

this will need to be a simple instance text parameter so you can change the numbers as needed.
