I believe the issue was a server space issue. Neither the local model or the central model moved. The issue was resolved but freeing up space on the server.

I get an error message that reads "Cannot find the Central Model Check out worksets to edit currently non-editable elements. If other users have edited these elements, all changes you made in this file will be lost when you reconnect to the central model." Also any time I try to open anything it says "failed to open document" followed by "Failed to save" Under the Collaborate tab the central model isn't saying that it needs to be repaired. rather saying that the worksets are wrong? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

It sounds like you are opening a local file that has been moved so that it is no linger connected to the network where it was created, instead of creating a new local from the central.

Is this true?

Are you confirming that you are opening a local file as opposed to creating a new one from the central?

Hi @dmcguane,

This message indicates a local file being opened, which doesn´t find its way to communicate with the central file.

It has a registered path, where the central file should be, but Revit doesn´t find a way to connect to that location.

For example: A typical scenario would be, if you would send a local file of your central model directly to someone else, who would try to open it in Revit on another local network (not having access to the network location, where the original central file is stored)... again - it is just an example - it would be possible in any other scenario, where the local file "doesn´t see" the central file at its registered location.

Can you open the network location specified in the "Cannot Find Central Model" error, you posted?

You mentioned that the local file wasn´t moved - is it possible, that the central file was moved?

If that is the case you can just open the central model directly with the "Create New Local" option activated in the File Open dialogue

You also might find this forum conversation helpful: Revit cannot find central model "perhaps due to a lost network connection"

I hope this helps - please, mark this post as a solution if it does!

If it doesn´t, please, give us some more information about the situation considering the information I described above.

I look forward to hearing from you.

Best regards,

As the others have said it 'thinks' something has moved but Ive seen this when nothing has physically moved but people with different letters on a mapped drive will cause it. As a company we have now banned the use of mapped drives because of it
