It is a wall base family and needs a local wall as the host. Wall in a link cannot be the host for this family. I suggest you find a face based Air terminal family and use it instead. There are tons of them online.

Hi, Very new to Revit so be gentle. I downloaded a louvered window that I need for a project we are doing. It is obviously in the "Window" family. I can't load it into my project. I get a circle with a slash through it when I try. I assume I can't because the walls are a link from the architect and it won't allow me to insert an architectural feature. Fair enough. Is there a way to reclassify the "window" to a "air terminal" or any other category that I can insert into my MEP drawing? I have been able to modify an existing air terminal to 24" x 60" but the addition of the louvers really better show our intent.

Thanks in advance.

Welcome to the forum!

Yes the process of changing categories is a fairly easy process. However, depending on how you are using your parameters in the family, it can case some problems down the line if you are not careful.

1-Open your family

2-Click the button circled in the image below

3-Select your desired category.

4-Done!

-Mark as solution if this solved your issue!

That was fairly painless... Thanks so much for the solution. When I go to insert it now I still get the circle with the slash through it. Any thoughts on why that is?

Totally makes sense. I found this block in the MEP section of another site. Probably should have been under Architecture. Thanks for the help!
