Hi.
Yep so I did try that method however the spot elevation doesn't give me the elevation of my element from its referenced level. It's giving me the elevation from 00.
E.g. My item is referenced at 1200 from level 1
But the spot elevation is saying it 5000 because it's taking it from the absolute base level 00.

I'm starting to get worried that Revit doesn't have this function readily available? I have spoken to a member of another community and their response was it isn't possible but there has to be a way to link the offset parameter to a tag to read. Hopefully it's straight in revit and just need to manipulate parameters? Otherwise I fear I might needs to dig deeper and look into macros ?

Have you managed to find a way?

Hi there,

I'm having some trouble working out a way to create a parameter in a tag that references the offset level and am wondering if anyone has some helpful advice/solutions ?

I have also tried changing the offset to a text type parameter in hope it read but no luck either..

The main purpose of my tag is to show the height of the device. My offset is able to show that however maybe I need to make a separate parameter that is height to reference from? Not sure open to all ideas or suggestions! Been stuck on this for a while!

Kindest regards

Why not use the spot elevation (on annotation tab on the dimension panel.

Hello,

Edit your elevation dimension to refer to reference level, set Relative.

I've created a new shared parameter called "mounting height" and put it into a family. It's a dimention between reference level and reference plane. I've created beautiful socket and lighting switch families and from the beggining aligned the device to a refering plane that is driven by "mounting height" parameter. Then I've created a tag that reads mounting height. It works nicely in a project.
A problem occurs when I try to give "ounting height parameter to old families which are already built and aligned to reference leveland there is no way to "unalign" them and make them move up, because all bonds are destroyed.

So it would be really great to be able to have offset value in a tag.
Spot tag is not enough, because you need to make another annotation of the same device instead of putting all info in one tag.
