Modify the scope box of a linked revit file

Is there a way to modify the bounding/scope box of a linked Revit model without opening the original file and modifying it?

As you can see from the attached image the scope box is a lot bigger than the model which makes pivoting the view awkward. I don't want to modify the original model as it will update the model to a new version of Revit.

Why not just turn off the scope box of the linked Revit model in your model opposed to editing the linked model.

Use the Visibility graphics dialog to Control the Linked Model, or if the scopebox is on a workset that you can turn off you can globally turn off the workset from the link.

Doesn't the visibility settings just control what you can see in that view, and wont have an effect on how the model revolves?

If you turn the scope box off from the linked model Revit will not see this as the bounding extents of the view. If you turn the scope box off and then double mouse click to zoom to fit you will notice that the building will fit center in screen and Revit by default will rotate around the centroid of the bounding extents it sees in a view. If you were to select an element in a view Revit will then rotate around the elements centroid as opposed the centroid of the view.

Another option would to just crop the view to be closer to the building. You can create your own scope box and apply it or manually crop the views.

The two are unrelated. The pivot point is not something that you just have to deal with. You can select an object and when you orbit, the object will be the center.
