To make the whole model darker, go to the manage tab, additional settings, halftone, underlay, and move the slider darker. This affects both how the model appears on the screen, and how it prints on paper.

The default is 50%. I like to set mine in the 60-70 range.

I am trying to make changes in the linked model but no changes are happening I want the columns a certain color I made the changes in VG it did not change. (See Attached PIC 1)

also is there a way I can make the whole model darker like in 3D even when I change the view to shaded it doesn't change the linked model. See attached PIC 2

I changed the cut pattern but that only changed the line around it. It didn't give me a solid color see PIC1

also the 3d only the outer lines became darker I want it should become shaded when I set the view to shaded why does only the objects in the model change when I set it to shaded and not the model in the link?

what is your view discipline set to? i think this is happening because of how Revit overrides view styles based on disciple. as an example, if you set your view disciple to Coordination do the overrides show?

Ya, that was just for example... :-).

unfortunately that is how Revit works. there are certain overrides that get applied when you set a discipline. when you set your discipline to Mechanical, you can not color fill or Hidden Line architectural/structural links. there are several other recent post out there with workarounds. when we need to override the Arch/Struct links we usually set the vie to Coordination and then control it with View Templates.

i'm sure someone else will chime in with there workarounds though :-).

this may help....

https://knowledge.autodesk.com/support/revit-products/learn-explore/caas/CloudHelp/cloudhelp/2019/ENU/Revit-DocumentPresent/files/GUID-5D8831F6-6F15-4BF3-ACEB-06FBC14A5491-htm.html?_ga=2.200074154.580503731.1583150607-1032145785.1563538399

Your picture doesn't look like you were changing objects under Revit links. That tells me why your link objects were not changing appearance... also, be aware of the view discipline... you may want to try coordination for darker appearance of elements.
