Hi,

I'm trying to apply a pipe color fill legend to a section view of vertical piping in a project, however when in a section view the Pipe Legend under Color Fill in the analyze tab is grayed out. Is there a work around for this?

No, you can not create a system colour scheme in sections and then also not a pipe legend. This functionality is hard coded. In those cases you would need to create your ownn legends

You could check the IDEA section and if needed create one

what are you setting up your color fill legend to show? you may be be able to set up a series of filters to select pipe based on different criteria. Then you can load the filters into a view and override the pattern an color.

it wouldn't be as dynamic as a color fill legend, but if you know your criteria it may be an option to try.

I agree you can create filter to colour the view. For what I understand the OP is after the legend, not the colouring of the view.

true, that's why i asked whey they were trying to show. i should have added you'd have to manually make your legend :-). it is an option i have used in the past. i had to set up a series of filters to cover the criteria i was looking to display, but it provided the graphic the client was looking for.

Thank you @hmunsell and @L.Maas . The project is a mechanical as-built drawing for a 5 story condo building, with sections showing which pipe is being replaced or rehabilitated. I did ultimately end up using filters to accomplish this task. However, I do find it odd that you can't create pipe color fill legends in a sectional view, I'm wondering what Autodesk's reasoning is for this.
