Add Save As to quick access toolbar?

Just wanted to double check that it is still not possible to add "Save As" to the quick access toolbar. Is that correct?

If you have to ask, it doesn't sound promising. I'd check to see if it's available but I don't have the latest version. Do you?

I don't even know where one would check. That's why I'm asking. You can right-click most other buttons to add to the toolbar, but there's not even a place to right-click the save-as button.

How often do you need to save a file as another file to justify having it on your QAT?

That's probably why its not available.

On my QAT I have things like split, trim, extend etc - for save as I would just go to file>save as rather than cluttering up the QAT.

I know this doesn't actually answer your question but maybe will be of some assistance.

If this the workaround people are using? Coming over from AutoCAD and using the Save-As to make version changes at Benchmark model changes, I'm miffed that I can't figure out how to add it to the QAT like I did in AutoCAD

There is no saving to an older version in Revit. That removes most of the need for the "save as".

I use it around 5 times a day. When a project is done (some projects are just 2hrs of work), we have to save the assembly or .ipt file it as a .stp file, for the customer. File>Save Copy As is just another tedious extra step I'd rather skip.

Save As doesn't convert file types as you are suggesting:

Are you sure that you are talking about Revit?

EDIT: This was meant for the Inventor forum. I'm not sure how I ended up here, lol. This DOES NOT work in Revit, but I can't delete this post.

I've found a workaround to get it in the Quick Access Toolbar (QAT).

1. Right click on Ribbon bar (i.e. Sheet Metal, 3D model, etc.).

2. Select "Customize User Commands"

3. Find and select "Save As" from left side (All Commands). Then choose the arrow that points to the right.

4. Choose Tab to add custom panel to File "Type | Ribbon Tab" (i.e. Part /3D Model, Assembly/Assemble, Drawing/Place Views, etc).

5. Select "Large" and "Text" if wanted.

6. Click Apply. Button will now appear on the Ribbon you selected.

7. Find button and right click on it and select "Add to Quick Access Toolbar".

8. The button will now appear on the QAT.

9. You can now remove the button from your ribbon by following the above steps and selecting the command and choosing the arrow pointing to the left.

I meant "Save Copy As". Same problem, different command. I added a solution and... just reread your reply. I thought this was the Inventor forum, lol. Sorry.

Unfortunately, the right-click menu in Revit only has the "Show Panel Titles" option. Thanks though!
