hi,

i loaded Revit 2022 yesterday. i can place a family manually & the view's associated level is affixed accordingly. However, when i copy/monitor, no level is "connected". Further, the dialog box for "edit work plane" has all buttons greyed out so i'm unable to associate the current work plane to the copied family (fixture). Copying to another level simply adds that many feet to the family. A sink at 26'-8" is not useful information. The "schedule Level" is not useful for what i want. Thanks in advance to anyone who can help.

Are you using copy/monitor to copy fixtures from a linked model into your model i.e. "Select Link" option?

Or are you using copy/monitor just within your own project i.e. "Current Project" option?

I'm not seeing the behaviour that you describe and as far as I can tell its behaving the same as in 2021.

I rarely copy fixtures from links into my own models but the behaviour that I'm seeing is:-

level based families copied via copy/monitor seem to act just as they would if they were loaded into the project.

wall hosted families can't be copied to the clipboard (see below) but you can place additional instances of them and they seem to behave okay.

Have you copy/monitored the levels from the link into your model, or added levels to your model?

If not you might only have one level in your model.

Either that or could it be something to do with the particular family or its hosting?

Just to confirm, have you copy/monitor the levels first?

Hi,

Yes, I do copy/monitor levels. I also rename them to prevent duplicates/confusion (usually by adding the discipline as part of the name. -- "m-", "e-", or "p-"). I now believe it's a family generated issue as i found a revit 2021 project with the same issue. As it was a single floor project, the issue did not manifest itself. I've been busy, so little digging has occured. Thank you for your follow-up.

Once you’ve copy/monitored the levels into your model, switch off level visibility in the link - no confusion. I also wouldn’t create discipline specific levels and it wasn’t clear if you mean that you have separate m, e and p levels in the same model or if these are in different linked models.

hi,

if i'm in a mech file, then i copy the levels in & rename with a "m-".

if i'm in an elec file, then i copy the levels & rename with a "e-".

when views & sections are created, the link levels (arch) are also created adding one more step to remember to clean (weather thru template or separate hiding). it's more practical to have "my" levels unique for work flow.

thank you.

That's a new one by me. IMHO, the same level should have the same name across all models. It shows basic coordination. But hey, that's just me.
