Would be nice if there was a setting to turn on/off that would make it prompt me to change workset when opening a view.

You could have views which you use only for working in (not placed on sheets) and on those views have some banner text saying REMEMBER TO CHANGE WORKSET.

You can quickly add the text to multiple views using copy to clipboard then Paste > Aligned to selected views.

For what purpose?

Worksets visibility (on, off) is per view so you can set each view or view template to turn on or off certain worksets without affecting other views. Or are you talking about close/open worksets?

Sometimes we have to use worksets for visibility or working on a given level of multi story building.
Would be nice to have the prompt so we dont forget to change when we go to that level or view.

Why can't you set the workset visibility permanently for each view?

That does not make it the active workset does it. i was hoping when i change to a view it is already set or i am asked if i want to change my active workset.

I doubt if there is any way to have the view automatically change workset for you - the view will be in its own workset

and could contain elements which are on multiple different worksets so how could it possibly know what workset you want to have current?

I think the simplest method would be to do as I suggested earlier and include some banner text in your working views to remind you to manually change the current workset.

The banner method may not be ideal as it may be off screen when opening or switching to the view.

This discussion has me thinking about AutoCAD and having to be aware of what layer was active when creating objects. Most of the time it was easy to know if you were on the wrong layer. Maybe you should make it a habit to turn on worksharing display by workset.
