Shadows not showing in realistic revit view

I am making schematic level elevations and want to use realistic view to show materials. The graphic display settings for the shadows/lighting are not displaying correctly, for example, not picking up the shadow created from my vertical fins. I have tried adjusting the sun and playing with the shadows. The shadows are showing up correctly in hidden line view but not realistic. How do I fix?

That's going to be hard to achieve. What about overlaying Views on a Sheet? Would you consider that workaround?

That would not be ideal, I was able to achieve some shadow by extending the fins, however some of the shadows are rendering very jagged looking

Is the fins' material transparent or opaque?

Have you tried to create a 3D view oriented to match the elevation and set it to realistic?

Rendering? Thought we were talking about Realistic. So that's a 3D View oriented to Elevation?

...see if unchecking hardware acceleration helps to reduce the jaggedness.

The fins material has cutouts which is what I have determined is the problem, however I wish revit would still cast shadow through the material/cutouts... guess I'll have to fudge it

REvit casts shadows from cutouts...however, only when Rendered!

Although Realistic is classified under real time render; however, the images will need to be processed by rendering the view in order for the cutouts Alpha map to pass light through and cast shadows

today (092021) there are two ways to achieve what you want...without rendering

Do not use Revit
Overlay as suggested by @barthbradley

I have the same problem.

I have the problem, if the terrain is visible; if the terrain is hidden, the shadow will showing correctly.
