Editing Family element and appears to be saving at every modification v.2018

This has never happened before. When editing a family element (edit extrusion), once saved & then continue to edit extrusion each modification just to move a line it goes to save that each time about 10 sec. for every modification or command after that. It appears to be saving every command or modification made/saving the file(?).

It is no quit clear what you are doing at your end and what is happening

Where are you editing the extrusion? In the family editor? or are those in place extrusions?
What do you mean by "once saved and continue to edit"
Is this a workshared model?

Thanks for the request of clarification. Much of my experience with Revit is self taught. I may not have all the terms correct but have corrected the problem by nesting families within families. Apparently it was taking to much memory. Thank you for your reply to my request. Jan
