Revit Lt vs Full Revit

What's the difference between Revit Lite and Full Revit? Is the full version necessary for a small two-person office? We don't work share and none of our consultants use Revit.

Can revit Lite open a full version revit file?

If I start with Revit Lite and realize it's not sufficient, is it easy enough to upgrade to the full version?

I would think Revit LT would be fine for you. You can always try each version for a maximum of 30 days and make your final decision.

FWIW: The number of people in your office has no bearing on the whether or not the lighter version is adequate enough for your needs.

Seeing what other user have posted with LT issue, I definitely say LT is handicap version. If you are doing small retail where you have to do complex geometry like adaptive, you won't be able to achieve that with LT. As well there is no plugin or dynamo support. For import/export, it is very limited. Try both software first before you purchased it.

With no worsharing/collaboration , Revit LT should be adequate for you...nonetheless, you might want to consider the full version if you need advanced massing studies and are required to provide analysis reports. Another bump in LT are the plug-ins...these can make your life super easy but they are not available for lt

Yes, Revit LT can open Revit files. You cannot adjust or work on some objects (masses, adaptive components) with Revit LT, but you can open the project.

Yes, going to full version is no problem at all. If you subscribe to Revit LT for one year, you cannot upgrade. You would have to purchase full license. So if you are not sure, I would advise to subscribe on monthly basis at first.

Using Revit LT depends on what you do. You will definitely come up to some limitations with Revit LT and it will depend whether they will be deal breakers or not. I use LT for interior design projects.

Are you talking about devices or seats? 3 users = 3 licenses.

You cannot use simultaneously ...

Subscription has been changed to named users. Network license and floating seats plan has been abolished

Meaning...Full or LT, you can install on as many computers as you wish; however, to use any you will need a subscrition per named user / login

I think I need at least 3 seats. I have 2 computers in my office and one at home. For example, when I'm at the office I need to open another project while I'm working on another project on another computer because an engineer calls in to ask a question and I don't want to close off the project I'm working on (I hate the time it takes to open and close a project).

Another scenario: When I'm home I want to make a change to the project without having to drive to the office...

I just found what I may not be able to live without in Revit Lt. You cant customize the visibility of linked Revit models. I wonder if there's a workaround to this.
