Connecting Railings

Hi Revit community,

This might be a simple issue and I might be tackling it the wrong way.

However I need to have two heights, 900mm above the stair flight and 1200mm on the landing part.

Is there an efficient proper way to make those two types connect as shown in red on second picture?

Keeping one railing type and adjust the height on the "Edit path" (pink lines) isn't an option as the railing will move up instead of "stretching up".

You need to split the Path on the landing into 2 segments...meaning the rain will be 3 Segments in the same sketch:

Segment A: (For the Run) set to
- Slop: By Host
- Height Correction: By Type
Segment B: (For the Landing - Transition piece) set to
- Sloped
- Height Correction: Custom with a value 300mm (ie: 1200-300)
Segment C: (For the Landing - Straight piece) set to
- Slope: Flat
- Height Correction: Custom with a value 300mm

I really appreciate for making the GIF and I am certain a lot of other people will find it useful. However I was aware of this feature which I addressed earlier as the Edit Path (pink lines) part, but when I implemented this technique I ended up this.

Basically the railing moves up instead of stretching up and stays on the red line. So it might be a problem with the railing family instead?

I sincerely appreciate your help.

It depends on how you model the balusters...you seem to be using the bottom rail as the Base of the balusters which does not work in such case.

For it to work using Railing,

Use the same method mentioned in previous reply
Plus 1 of the following options/settings

Option A: Using a Custom Baluster family which extend below the Host

Base of the Balusters need to be set to Host
Bottom Rail would be part of the Custom Baluster
Railing would be hosted to the Stair Directly

Option B: Using standard Balusters

Set the base of the Balusters to host
Use a Beam/Structural Framing for Bottom Rail
Railing element would be hosted to a demo'ed or Invisible host

An alternative to the above is to use a Curtain Wall Element ... but this you can save for a new post/question
