We just upgraded from Revit 2021 to 2024.

Our model has a bunch of Revit links and IFC links, and we have organised our model and linked files in worksets as we need them. All the linked models have been also upgraded to 2024.

We used filters without a problem in 2021 - including applying a filters to a particular workset.

So, for example, we have our structure in two parts, one as a linked IFC and one as a linked RVT. Both in their own workset - let's say 'Structural Workset'

We have the MEPs as linked RVTs, let's say 'MEP workset'.

One filter used to change the colour of everything contained in the 'MEP workset' to green, but now in Revit 2024, the filter doesn't work on anything in the 'MEP workset', but changes the colour of the IFC in the 'Structural Workset'.

We've tried copying the filter and changing the name, and also creating a new view and reapplying it without success.

Only solution we've found is deleting the 'old' filter and creating a new filter from scratch, but that would mean all templates will lose the old filter, and we'd have track the filters per template and substitute them... which considering the size of our project, it would be a nightmare.

Anybody has come across this problem and has a solution? Many thanks.

Hi,

Not getting 100% what's happening.

You place Revit links in the Host file on a Workset that exists in the Hostfile and with a filter based on that Worksetname the elements INSIDE the link changed color?

Well that didn't work in previous versions either.

What does work is, if the links are workshared models and has a Workset (where all elements are placed on) with thesame name as in the host model, then the viewfilter in the host will also be applied on the elements in the linked model that are on that workset.

Maybe some models weren't upgraded with "keep worksets" are no longer a workshared model?

But the last bit throws that off "If we create a filter from scratch"...that shouldn't work either.

Did you upgrade directly from 2021 to 2024 in one step, or did you upgrade 2021,>2022> 2023> 2024?

I don't know if that would have avoided the issue, but is the official recommendation.

you probably will have to re-create the filters. and chnge in each template what the filter is suposed to look like.

Thanks for the replies you two - @TripleM-Dev.net you're right, my explanation was not accurate. To be honest, we had to take some time to get our heads around what was happening. So the problem is basically, that after upgrading, filters that were properly working and following the rules they were given, started modifying IFC's linked to the host model. Yes, linked IFCs' visibility and graphic properties were being affected by filters that had nothing to do with them. In all cases. Which seemed really strange.

In response to your query @HVAC-Novice , indeed, we did it in one step (not our choice), and ufortunately, recreating the filters doesn't solve the problem. I'm suspecting it's something to do with the IFC's, since are the only items behaving oddly. Have tried unloading and reloading them from scratch without sucess. The IFC's are being upgraded from 2021 everytime they are loaded or reloaded, so that might be part of the issue.

Next step is to upgrade the IFCs and find out if that was the problem.
