how to make a vertically curve face while 4 sides can be twisted? (adaptive components)

Hello,

I posted previously the same question but made propromise before, but now cannot avoid that, so sorry I have to repost it and make it solved now:

There is a vertically curved adaptive object , its face has vertically curved face, meanwhile its 3 sides points has to be adopted. (some like a twistable suspension, but they are repated production componens).

I made this vertical curve but it extrude horizontally (i think this curve is deems on a vertical workplane so it extrude horizontally).

I tried many ways and search many tutorials but no solution found （a vertically curved face with 4 sides adaptive）

Please advice Thanks

Create a profile by a nest generic family set to always vertical.

Your suggestion is exactly what I made compromise before as in the previous post. But Now the requirement is: cannot "always vertical", but the end two points is requested to be "adaptive and twisted along an other edge curve", (meanwhile the joist itself is vertically curve also.

What the heck is a "vertical curve face" then? Can you draw a plan and 2 elevations?

If you set the profile to always vertical, you might be able to loft it; however, when flexing and if the curvature is nasty compared to the thickness of the profile, Revit will throw at you the error "Unable to create form" or "Form self intersects"

If you want a vertical cut at the ends, you have 2 options

Either Loft the profile along the curve then cut it with voids hosted at the end/placement nodes
OR (Instead of lofting a profile along the curve)
- Use a 1 Point adaptive family for the profile - Global Z then Host xy (nested)
- Divide the curve
- Host the adaptive profile on 1 point
- Use repeaters
- Break >> select all >> create form

Apart from the above... I am curious, why 3 adaptive placement points? if that is intended to twist/twirl the planks of that foot bridge, it wont work.

3 points: the front two points is to fit the edge curve, keeping the end face twisted along the edge curve.

I will try your above GIF for other horizontal joist.

And this post is for vertical joists with gap between, see below picture (except that the end face is still vertical which is not what is requested to tweist along with the edge curve)

Yes it is tricky request from 3D printing team （a workshop to print the whole building not just a component). and Revit are almost aooriaching the ultimate target... I had tried other sotware eg ARCD etc but halt at mid way...

Yes as long as the end face align with the edge curve , not vertical(ie 2 points snap to the edge curve)

So the only vertical are the 2 end faces? If so, just create a normal adaptive sweep with 3 adaptive points, then place 2 vertical voids to cut the ends.

I use 9 points so that the Repeater can place the beam with a gap.

There was some error after Repeater so I has to remove the faulty ones, placed a beam on the other end and repeat again, then deleted a few overlapping. The error is dependant on the curvature of the surface so you may or may not get it.

You only need 7 adative points, 6 to drive the geometry of the beam and 1 to create the gap. 9 as Shown earlier is unnecessary.

BTW, my one mass surface will be used for several 3-4 U-V grid systems (tile, joist, sheet etc), but seems there is no subcategory to seperate VG of these U-V sets based on one same mass surface, any advice?

Create one mass with a form, nest it in another blank mass and create divided surface, repeat for as many a a you need.
