In elevation with the visual style set to hidden line windows and glass doors with the same material often display differently. Does anyone have a fix for this?

Remove the surface pattern/color from the glass material.

...or use Override Graphics in View By Element or By Category and untick the Surface Pattern Category.

That works great to make a consistent view but is there a way for it to
consistently show the color?

Change the windows to use the same glass material. Or change all glass materials to have the same surface solid pattern color.

Turning off the surface pattern makes the elevation show no color
consistently. I would like to see the color in the glass consistently when
I use that material. How can I accomplish that?

Then leave it on for all the Materials that you what to show a Surface Pattern/Color in Hidden View.

...you get that the Materials assigned to the Windows may be different from each other; don't you? Check the Material Parameters in each Family's Properties and see what Project Material is assigned to Glass or Glazing. If there is none, then open the Family and associate the Glass geometry's "Material" Parameter to a Family Types Material Parameter and then reload the Family into the Project. You can then assign whatever Project Material you like to the Glass.

NOTE: If it the Material reads "BY CATEGORY", then that means it uses whatever Material is assigned to the Window Category under Object Styles.
