I am trying to create custom fill/hatch patterns. From all the tutorials I've watched, the pyRevit plugin is the best way to convert them from 2D geometry into reusable patterns. However, although I can download the installer and it finishes its process, the plugin will not sync/boot into Revit. This is the message I get:

Notion/GitHub have a page about using the Command Prompt to resolve this, but it is too technical for me to know how to use.

1. Can anyone walk me through this in common-speak?

2. Know where to get the right help?

What is your Revit version? Did you download pyRevit installer from here?

Revit version is 2023.

PyRevit has not released a version for Revit 2023 yet.

What would an alternative be then? Surely I am not the only one in the
world who is trying to make fill & hatches with Revit 2023.

You can run pyRevit in 2022, create the patterns, and use it in 2023. There are also HatchKit and patty-cake.

How do I get Autodesk to give me Revit 2022?

If you have an active subscription to Revit, you should be able to download the 2022 version from your Autodesk Account, under Products and Services > All Products and Services. If you do not have permission to download software for the license assigned to you, then one of the administrators of your firm's Autodesk Licenses may have to do the download for you.

What's wrong with the OOTB fills/hatches in Revit? Do you have a particular pattern in mind? There's a butt-load of free patterns available on line that you can find through simple keywords searches. Find the ones you like and pull their pattern definition into a Custom Fill Pattern. You can also create Basic Fill Patterns natively without needing a .pat or .txt file.

P.S. Got a favorite AutoCAD Hatch Pattern? Pull it into a Revit Custom Fill Pattern.

Bottom line is that you may not need some fancy-schmancy add-in to do what you want to do.

I had to get screen-share help to resolve whatever the issue was with getting 2022 to download. I have it now and am working on creating the patterns.

I am able to download as I am an administrator however, I cannot find pyRevit under the All Products and Services page. Any ideas? I installed through their website but received the same error

The reference to All Products and Services was for Revit 2022, not for pyRevit.
