Transferring Legend Views

Is there any way to transfer the legends from one project to another like Drafting views? or any add-ins or Scripts to help with?

Yes this can be done.

If you have both Revit projects open (same version and same revit instance (not 2 applications of revit running, but 1) then on a sheet view you can just copy a legend you want (CTRL C) and paste (CTRL V) across to the other project (on a sheet view) I have done this numerous times with always success.

This will paste the legend view and the legend will auto create in the 2nd project.

You could try to use pyrevit, there is a pyrevit script (clickable tool) wich let you select wich legends to copy to wich open projects (same sesion )

1. click on Copy Legends to other documents

2. select project wich to copy to

3. select legends to copy:

Aside from pyRevit, if you use Revit 2022 or 2023, you can select a legend on a sheet in project A, CTRL+C, and paste on a sheet in project B.

This is also a really good option , actually might be the most easy way when just wanting to copy one or two legends.

Just tested it in Revit 2020, it works as well, so i guess this works in 2020, 2021, 2022 and 2023.

@ToanDN Fully agree with you ! Know i think of it i always use this technique when wanting to add multiple schedules from our template to older projects wich miss those, so i guess it is just preference or you use the sheet copy technique or pyrevit. Therefore i should't have said " just wanting to copy one or two legends."

Offtopic:
Really love the fact that all the parameters used in the schedule's automaticly get coppied into the project as well.

They are working on it. Volunteers work on this open-source project when they have time. There were a lot of changes with the 2025 release that affected pyRevit, so there is a lot of work to do to support Revit 2025.

I have Revit 2025 and the Legend is in Revit 2022. I tried copying multiple times but it did not work. Bummer.
