Site Tags - adding host offset parameter?

Hi there!

We have a height-in-relation-to-boundary(HIRB) component which is hosted on a Datum level and the offset in manually entered to ensure that they are completely accurate rather than reading off the topo surface. We use this to determine infringements of the building mass, etc., during a development's planning stages.

I have made a site tag that numbers and references the type of HIRB it is, and am looking for a way to add the elevation from the datum into this tag. Is there a way I can reference the "offset" value from datum within the tag family?

What category is the family? Maybe recategorized it to one that has an Elevation From Level Parameter.

- Add a Level at Datum

- Use a Generic Model instead of Site

- Use a Generic Model tag and add Elevation from Level parameter to label

- Set the family instances in the project to be hosted by the Datum Level and the tags should show what you want

The family is a site category and we would like to keep it as that if possible.

I'll test this out and see how it works, would we be able to switch it to a site family after the parameters have been set?

Create a Shared Parameter to control the offset distance and pull that Shared Parameter into your Tag Family. This will require some work in the Family as well as reentering "offset" values in the Project for each Instance of the Family, so it won't be a quick or painless remedy.

Here's an example for you using the Bollard Family, which is a Site Family available in the OOTB Content Library.

That was easy the easy part. How many instances of your family will you be overwriting with your new and improved version? That's where it could get tedious. You'll need to enter each of their offset values manually into the Shared Parameter Field that controls the new version's offset.

Create a shared generic model family, nest it in the Site family, TAB to tag the generic family in the project.
