So this has been bugging me for year. Why can we not not move items without all of the warning about how many annotative object have to be deleted? Yet I can nudge the heck out of it and eyeball to the new location and the objects remain.

This is supposed to be an accurate drawing platform; why do you make users go through this?

Come on AutoDesk you can do better..

Disjoin deletes and recreates the element involved in the move, in the new location, to break a relationship with any other elements (thus the word disjoin).

This problem is resolved in Revit 2024 for your info. I use align tool as a suggestion, when you move the elements with align rather then move, anno will be preserved.

@seydauzun

May I disagree with that statement? "Has been Resolved" ?? I believe Move, Drag, and Nudge all work as expected, and there was no issue to resolve in the first place.

Disjoin, taken literally as a word, simply meants to disconnects some restraint between two components. If the component isn’t locked or pinned, this would typically refer to the dimension strings.

Unchecking Disjoin switches the Move command to Drag mode. Drag mode is essentially a simplified version of Move, even sharing the same icon.

The behavior of Move with and without Disjoin has been consistent for as long as I can remember. While I didn’t use 2024 and I am not sure id any changes were made in that version but I can confirm that in 2025.4, Move/Disjon functions as it always has.

In the GIF above, with a clean model containing just one wall, one desk and one dimension string, Revit won't complete the move unless the dimensions are disconnected/disjoined...Only when Disjoin is UNCHECKED, Move switchs to Drag

Edit: Sorry, the reply should have went to @kevinpo
