How to show a notched rafter overhang?

I have a 2x10 pitched roof supported by the exterior timber framed walls. According to the design it is going to get notched down past the exterior wall it rests on, so the overhang portion will only be 6" for a 6" fascia. This isn't uncommon but I have no idea how to show this in revit. I can easily detail this in a section view, but the model will still show a 2x10 overhang which would obv look off with the 6" fascia board that doesnt cover it all.

You can notch the rafters using Opening by Face tool, or cut them using Reference Planes (only single cut).

If you only need to notch at the plate:

the roof is hipped, so I cant really see the end of it anywhere like in your view. And it doesnt seem to want to let me do it in a section view.

Had to deal with other tasks but I'm back on this issue. So the roof isnt actually made up of modeled rafters, just a regular revit roof family. Today I was trying to tackle this again using a void sweep. I measured the exact profile I needed to cut and made the profile family. I selected the roof edge for the path and everything looks good but I keep getting this error:

"Some Void Forms of this family do not cut anything and will be deleted. To make a Void Form cut something else use the Cut Geometry tool."

This feels like this should work, the void form is completely in the roof overhang, so I'm not sure what the problem is.
