Section view detail Line not snapping exactly to intersection

Hello:

When drawing detail lines in a section view the line does not snap properly to the end/intersection of the object (see attached image). In all cases it is drawn slightly upwards (3/32" or so) from the selected end/intersection. I do get the snap box - but it is located slightly above the object as well. The object is a generic model.

Any ideas?

Turn Off Far Clip Offset.

I have it set to the smallest value it will accept - is there a way to turn it off all together ?

Turned that off, but the result is still the same (shifted upwards) when drawing a new detail line.

I checked and model lines are also shifted.

Are you using your TAB key?

Yes - I am definitely selecting the end point.

I just created a sample model - a wedge shape. I placed a section approximately 1/3 from the end. When viewing in section with the clipping plane set to no clip try to pick the corner/intersection where the object passes the section plane (arrow in attached image) - cannot be done that I can tell. The snap goes to the closest end of the edge. See images.

I have tried every imaginable setting within the Extents options.

I have included the wedge.rvt model - hopefully I am missing something.

Add it on a plan view, where you can snap to the intersection of the section line and the element.

I can snap a Detail Line to edges just fine. No mysterious offset happening on my end. Either I don't get what you are describing - or I do get what you are describing, and my Revit is better than your guy's Revit. 😉

@nick.seman: help me out here. What is this element? It's no Generic Model I've ever seen. Revit doesn't even list it in the Project Browser. You got me scratching my head.

The object was created in Inventor and exported using the relatively new Export to RVT command. This creates a Revit drawing with the generic object inside of it.

This is also causing me an issue - I need to add material properties to it but since it does not appear in the Project Browser I am unable to export it to a RFA, add the material info, and reimport it. On the other hand if I change the Inventor Model I can simply "update" the Revit model and all holds together pretty good.
