Is there a way to show an element sits on another one?

Hi there

I have a generic model placed on this desk

Is there any way to show in a schedule that this generic model (circular thing) sits on this exact desk?

Show that it sits on the desk in a schedule? Am I reading you right?

Families can be made room-aware by employing the Room Calculation Point in the Family. Is this useful?

Yes correct, to relate the generic model to the desk

For instance I know that that generic model is related to that desk

The generic models and the furniture are room aware

But I would love to show in a schedule the generic model beside the desk it is on

Help me understand...

You have a schedule that reports both desk and this generic model "thingy" and you want some way to show in the schedule that this generic model "thingy" is SITTING on top of the desk?

Or do you mean the desk and this generic model "thingy" are in different schedules?

I have a multicatagory schedule at the moment that contains the family and type of my generic model thingy, and the room number... However, I can not add the desk to the schedule

The desk doesn't show up in the Multi-Category Schedule? It should be if it's placed in the Project. Maybe the Phase/Phase Filter of the Schedule is wrong. Check that. Schedules have both Phase and Phase Filter just like Views.

...Is the Desk in a Design Option?

No, the desk doesn't show up in the Multi-Category Schedule

Phase is correct - all done in existing the model and the schedule

I cant see where to look at the phase filter?

No, its not in a design option

I can get families and Types but I cant get family and type just for Furniture

What if I'll create a New Family(Furniture Family) that contains two nested Families , a desk and the object that I'll placed on it ?

Then create 3 shared parameters that control the position of the object onto the desk ( X_offset, Y_offset and Z_offset) , load into Project and create a Schedule for these New Families. X_offset, Y_offset and Z_offset will be available in that schedule. controlling the position of the object on desk top surface.....
