Showing a 2D element instead a 3D element in a plan

Hi community!

Currently I am using Revit (2025) and I am trying to create a special view of every element I have in 3D for a simpler one 2D.

I am modelling a railway station. I have for example a Drainage shaft which sees like in Picture 1. And I will like to show in my plans just a simple circle with an X in the middle.

I have seen here I have to draw the lines inside the family and somehow associate them with the visibility but I don´t understand how. Could someone please explain me?

You place symbolic lines in the family (circle). Then you select the 3D element(s) and edit their visibility settings >>> Uncheck the box for show in Plan/RCP

This will stop the 3D from displaying in those views (Plan and RCP) and the 2D will show instead

You can apply the same princp. for Left and Right views

Hi Rdaou,

thank you for your quick reply. I did as you said but the lines as symbolic lines don´t appear in 2D or 3D.

And when I create them as model lines even though I change the visibilty options they keep appearing in the 3D model. (As well in the 2D plan)

Open Family
Select everything
Use Selection filter and uncheck the line and Keep only the Generic Models
On the properties panel edit visibility settings and uncheck Plan/RCP
Save and reload into the model

It worked! It works perfectly when I start a new project. But I dont know why it doesn´t seems to work for an existing project. I even copied the platform I had from my existing project to a new one and I still cannot make it work somehow.

Attached are the screenshots and the model to see if you have any idea why.

At the beggining i though it was because the floor is irregular, but I created a new irregular floor and it still works so I don´t understand

It works but you are not seeing it because there is a floor on the max_Bahnsteigoberkante Ebene which is blocking it. You are placing it on the level below so to say.
