Prevent parameter type to be changed directly from the family instance

Hi,

Is it possible to prevent parameter type to be changed directly from the family instance. I would like these paremeters only editable using Modify Type... button to avoid inadvertently changing a type.

Enter fixed Parameter Values directly into the Parameters' Formula Fields. Then it can't be changed in the Project. It has to be edited at the Family level to change parameter values.

Is this what you are after?

I think I get it now. You want the Parameter Values of the Family Types that are pre-defined in the Family to be tamper-proof in the Project - but you still want to freedom to duplicate and create new Types in the Project. Is that about the size of it?

...how about a warning label that reads: "CHANGING AN EXISTING TYPE'S PARAMETER VALUE WILL RESULT IN IMMEDIATE TERMINATION." 😉

Yes, it's what I want. I have type parameters and instance parameters in my family. There's no problem if the user change the value of an instance parameter but if he changes the value of a type parameter he won't realize that he's changing this value for all the instances using the same type. A warning can help but ideally it's to force the change of type parameter using the modify type button. They can change the value of the type or duplicate an existing one. Ideally if it's possible to lock predefined type it would be the best. Is it possible?

I get what you are saying, but there's no way to lock down the parameters without disabling the ability to Duplicate and create new Types as needed. If you don't need to duplicate and create new Types, then write formulas for all the Parameters.
