Ghost lines from linked STR model

Hello,

I'm dealing with some weird ghost lines from the first STR model we linked to our file. They show/disappear depending on the angle/zoom, and having them outside the section box doesn't prevent them from appearing.

We received a new STR model, I removed the previous one and uploaded the new one and still has these lines. I'm not able to select them either, seems like a visual artifact. Abny lead on what that may be and how to remove it?

Could be cause by various reasons and with the info you shared it is not easy to tell which. With nothing in hand to check, the following are the most common causes I can remember

Could be graphics performance issues (disabling Hardware Acceleration in options might help)
Could be a partially exploded Import...try linking instead
If it is a DWG link, try link it into an inplace Genric model
Could be a large linked model which has parts of it falling outside Revits drawing limits and that causes such graphical inaccuracies (setting linked model to display By Link and using a section Box therein to Cut the 3D view used might help)
Could be corrupt file or view. Try to recreate view or audit the file

I've tried disabling hardware acceleration before making this post, didn't help.

File is linked, not imported.

It's a Revit model, linked.

I'll try that section box from the link file, that's worth a try!

Do they show if you set the link display to By Linked View and choose a 3D view from the link?

Hi ToanDN,

Yes, I've set a view on the linked file to try that section box into the linked file lead, and set the Revit link display by Linked view from that file and the ghost lines are still around.
Noting that they are not showing on the linked file itself. The ghost lines are gone if I disable the Revit link from my main file's 3D view.

Can you open the link and enable the Internal Origin visibility then check how far it is from what has been modeled there in?

And while at it, maybe you could also check for any GPU drivers updates.

(PS: I am ruling out the possibility that you are using MAC, running a virtual maching and/or using an onboard intigrated GPU)

Hi Rdaou,

I'm using R22.1.50.17 on windows 10 pro.

The project base point, Internal origin and survey point are all within the project's boundaries.

I've run a GPU update, but unfortunately, that didn't sort out the problem.

The Revit build you are using is out of date the current is 22.1.80.32 Could you maybe download and install that first?

Installed the hotfix, no change. Not sure where these artefacts are coming from, but since they don't appear on issued drawings I guess I'll just have to ignore them.

If you recreate the view or if you Link it into a clean model...do you see the same artifacts there? It might be a corrupted view.

I created a new 3D view, artifacts are still displaying. I linked the STR model into a new file, no artifact.

Did you audit the file as previously suggested?

remove the link and relink new into the model
if it is a workshared model (cloud based)…close Revit >> clear collaboration cash >> reopen
if it is workshared on a local or remote server; rename the current local and create a new one

The linked file is a detached Revit project. I have already tried to re-link a save-as version of it under a different name.

Not the STR model… the host model where u r linking the STR into. If that is workshared, clear the cash and/or recreate local
