Are you modeling when the view's phase = New and the phase filter = Show Previous + Demo? If so, don't do that, model Existing under a view with phase = Existing and phase filter = Show All (if you only want to see Existing), or phase filter = None (if you want to see Existing and New).

Hello everyone, so I been getting this problem where I have a renovation project. Existing project exists and starting on new work. Now for the problem, if I want to model in existing any new walls revit automatically chooses the phase to be new work not existing. And I'm at a lost. View template and phase filters are set to existing.

You mean the properties of the view show "Existing", but anything you model is "New" when you look at the properties? is it possible you used overrides to the template if the template is "existing"?

So what I'm saying is. I'm currently in a existing view. Template is existing view but when I create a wall or add components they get added to a new work view. Didn't modify view template.

Wait, are you saying that walls are coming in as new construction walls, or they are just showing on new construction views, as well as your existing view?

If its the latter, yea, existing elements will remain until the phase they are demolished in.

Of course what you draw in an existing view will show in new view unless you choose to demolish them.
