Error Messages While Acquiring Coordinates

When I try to acquire coordinates from a linked survey cad file, I get this error messages shown below, the workset where the linked file is in is set as Editable.

Problem is solved although don't under the reason. I got the error message while I detached the file from central file (Just want to do a test ). So this time I didn't detach the file but just open the central by creating a local file and it worked!

Have you try reset the Revit coordinate and then re-acquired the coordinate? See if this workflow helps.

I was able to acquire the coordinates now, but I kept getting these messages whenever I synced. But I never changed the position of the linked file.

I would choose disable shared position or it will resave the Revit coordinate back the DWG which you don't want to happen.

I am trying to understand the warning messages.

" location position changed "- Is this because I moved the survey after I brought it in the model?

Don't we acquire coordinates from the linked survey so the Revit model will have the correct coordinates? Which means the linked survey coordinates is shared with the Revit model, so why clear it?
I want to test if the Revit model has the right coordinates, I "ID" the coordinates of a point to get x, y ,z value in survey CAD file, but don't know how to do the same in Revit model - how to get the x, y, z of a point there?

What I notice when working with shared coordinates is if you don't disable shared position from your links, it will constantly prompt that dialog box. Your option is to save changes back to the original link or keep having this dialog. If you don't want that annoying dialog box, then you would disable it. Your survey should be the one that dictates your shared coordinate. Revit wants to override your CAD survey which is not ideal unless you want a survey to adopt Revit shared coordinate.

This is because you moved the survey DWG after you have acquired the coordinates. Moving it prior acquiring coordinates should not be triggering any warning.

"Retain..." option prevents you from moving the link. If you need to move the survey DWG after you have acquired coordinates then Reset Shared coordinates, then move, the re-acquire coordinates.

After you have re-acquired coordinates, turn on Survey Point and look at its coordinates (N/S, E/W, Elev) and they should be matching (X,Y,Z) of the DWG.

If you want to check a random point, use Annotate > Spot Coordinates.

I acquired coordinates exactly after I reposition the survey dwg and the warning still showed up, I am not sure if it was because the site info from an old file still exists in the model?

If you did that then Revit would never prompt you with that dialog. Ever.

Do not be so absolute. These steps are not so complicated, remove link - reset shared coordinates -link survey - reposition - acquire coordinates. It just happened - I didn't run into this issue with other projects which I started from scratch. I took over this one and an old survey with complete different name was linked until we got a brand new survey and even after the old file was not linked in the model anymore , it still shows next to "Survey Point". I suspected that caused this problem but don't know how to get rid of it.

As I already said, it is the name of the Site. You can literally change it to Mars or Uranus if you want. If you want to convince me then share the site model and the DWG here.

That is a load of bullcrap. I always acquire coordinates via the properties palette. Never ever have had such issue.

Could you do me a favor and give the link so I can see who wrote that article (could not be @barthbradley)?

I am just puzzled why survey point has the old survey file listed. At least I still have coordinates of survey dwg and revit model matching each other after disabling shared positioning. That is something I am concerned more.
